Alliant International University (AIU), a small, private university for master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology, located in Fresno, is organizing a cultural diversity event called "Ecosystemic Forum" scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2009, from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the AIU auditorium.

The purpose of these events, held once a semester on various cultural diversity topics, are to increase the student body’s cultural competence and sensitivity when working with minority patients.  The cultural diversity topic for this event will be gay and lesbian family systems.  There will be a viewing of "Our House", a 56 minute documentary about the experiences of children growing up in lesbian or gay families.  Following the documentary, they are inviting a family, or families, to be their guests for a 1 hour discussion and question and answer period with the students.  A faculty member will be present to facilitate the discussion, which will be very informal.

If you are interested in participating, or know of any LGBT families who might be willing to participate, please contact Donica Romeo through email [email protected] or cell phone directly at 918-850-2236. Please feel free to ask questions and make suggestions.
