Third Tower Fire Is Arson

The third suspicious fire to strike the north Tower District area occurred Sunday night, October 16th.
A bail bond office was heavily damaged by a fast-moving fire shortly before 7 p.m. The Bail-U-Out office was located on Wishon just south of Shields near the underpass.

Fire investigators say Sunday night’s fire at the Bail-U-Out bail bond office on Wishon is definitely arson. The building was set afire shortly before 7 p.m.  Investigators also say this fire was probably not connected to the earlier fires at the North Tower Circle and at the shuttered Dance nightclub, both on Maroa.

Deputy fire marshal Don MacAlpine is asking for the public’s help in identifying a "person of interest" and a vehicle seen in the area at significant times.  "We’re looking for a white male, medium-average build, with longish hair," MacAlpine said. MacAlpine added the man was seen leaving the area just as the Dance fire was reported.  "The vehicle is a white pickup truck," MacAlpine said. He said the truck’s been seen in the area several times.

MacAlpine said anyone with information on the fires, the person or vehicle can call him at 621-4446 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
