ACTIVIST. BRIDGE BUILDER. FRIEND.

My heart is full upon learning of the passing of Jeffery Robinson. We met 35 years ago as undergraduate students attending Fresno State. We uplifted each other after the Fresno State United Student Pride booth was burned, and later when the KKK protested our student club. During these and other incidents, Jeff inspired my social justice activism and volunteerism advocacy that remains to this day.

A humble and quiet leader, his tireless efforts touched the lives of so many in our community. These include coordinating the Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival, keeping the Reel Pride film festival up-and-running, hosting his radio show on 88.1-KFCF, as well as holding the Emperor 26 title with the Imperial Dove Court De Fresno. Jeff was also selected the keynote alumnx speaker for Rainbow Graduation Celebration in 2015. Thank you for being a part of the solution, leading by example, and uplifting our community. Heartfelt appreciation to his husband, Juan Bustamante, for sharing him with all of us. We are all better for it. REST IN POWER. 😭💔🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎🙏

Later today, Thurs., March 10th, Councilmember Esmeralda Soria (Dist. 1) will be proposing the Fresno City Council meeting be adjourned “In Memory of Jeff Robinson.”
